چکیده

INTRODUCTION We previously presented an investigation on the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) and temperature elevation using Japanese anatomical human models for body-worn usage at 900, 1950, and 3500 MHz [1]. The results showed that there was a difference in the 10g average SAR between the male and the female models, but the temperature elevation was almost the same at 900 and 1950 MHz and vice versa at 3500 MHz. However, investigation results were obtained only from one antenna position.

Estimation of Core Temperature Elevation in Humans and Animals for Whole-body Averaged Sar

Biological effects due to whole-body radio-frequency exposure may be induced by core temperature elevation. According to the international safety guidelines/standards for human protection, the whole-body averaged specific absorption rate (WBA-SAR) is used as a metric. In order to understand the relationship between WBA-SAR and core temperature elevation, a theoretical solution or a closed formu...

SAR distribution in human beings when using body-worn RF transmitters.

This study analyzes the exposure of the human torso to electromagnetic fields caused by wireless body-mounted or handheld devices. Because of the frequency and distance ranges from 30-5800 MHz and 10 to 200 mm, respectively, both near-field and far-field effects are considered. A generic body model and simulations of anatomical models are used to evaluate the worst case tissue composition with ...

MR imaging-related heating of deep brain stimulation electrodes: in vitro study.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Recent work has shown a potential for excessive heating of deep brain stimulation electrodes during MR imaging. This in vitro study investigates the relationship between electrode heating and the specific absorption rate (SAR) of several MR images. METHODS In vitro testing was performed by using a 1.5-T MR imaging system and a head transmit-receive coil, with bilateral ...

Temperature elevation in the human brain and skin with thermoregulation during exposure to RF energy

BACKGROUND Two international guidelines/standards for human protection from electromagnetic fields define the specific absorption rate (SAR) averaged over 10 g of tissue as a metric for protection against localized radio frequency field exposure due to portable devices operating below 3-10 GHz. Temperature elevation is suggested to be a dominant effect for exposure at frequencies higher than 10...
